Dr. Passie completed his training as a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy as well as his academic work at the Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich, in practice by Prof. Hans Carl Leuner in Göttingen and Hannover Medical School. He wrote his doctorate on existential aspects of psychiatric disorders and habilitation of altered states of consciousness.
Prior to joining Oberberg, Dr. Passie was the Chief Physician of the Department of Psychiatry, Social Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, and Medical Director of the Hannover Centre of the Federal German model project for heroin assisted treatment of opiate addicts at the Medical University of Hannover.
He is interested in a wide range of psychotherapeutic methods, and has extensively worked with various methods and clinical psychotherapy research, especially in the treatment of depression, anxiety and dependency disorders. His extensive talks, guest lectures at Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA) and several books and numerous articles in international journals, demonstrate the broad spectrum of his research.
A long-standing expertise in the exploration of consciousness, altered states of consciousness and mind techniques enable Dr. Passie to expand the innovative therapies of the Oberberg clinic with the aim to deepen awareness, self-healing powers, and to free the potentials of the personal development of every individual.
Under his leadership, a multi-professional and highly motivated team of doctors and therapists worked on successful and sustainable multi-dimensional treatments, on the basis of the principles of the Oberberg model. The patients are being treated at all levels of the rational, emotional and mindful disease acceptance, and so the healing process and the further development of the personality are promoted and supported.
